Playa Alzada

Playa Alzada is located in the Parque Natural de Corralejo in the northeast of Fuerteventura. This park is a place which I do not really understand. It consists of a vast and beautiful dune area and it is not allowed to drive or walk through most of the park so that nature remains protected from human influence – which is something I am more than ready to subscribe to. Still, there are two huge hotel complexes (Riu Tres Islas and Riu Oliva Beach) right in the middle of the park. Not sure how this form of mass tourism is compatible with the idea of protecting nature.

When leaving our vacation home in Lajares, I have not expected much from a photographic perspective. There was dense fog everywhere, I had to drive slowly. I was debating with myself whether it was promising to head for the mountains which may peek out of the cloud cover but decided against it considering the distance and the time left until sunrise. To my surprise, there was no fog at the coast and the low tide revealed interesting structures. Landscape photography remains unpredictable to me. 😉
