Test Flight

Always wanted to explore photography from above, and the recently launched DJI Mavic 2 Pro provided an excellent opportunity which I could not resist. 😉 Even though bearing the Hasselblad logo on the camera with a relatively large 1“ sensor, there is a little more noise than I expected and I also got some concerns about dynamic range – image quality is not even close to my DSLR (5D3). But actually, this is a relatively compact and transportable drone and not a flying DSLR – flying DSLRs are possible but then things are getting really expensive and large. So, here is a first image with the new drone, taken short after start of civil twilight which is the earliest time of the day when you are allowed to launch a drone here in Germany – there was not a lot of light yet that early. It has been combined from a 0.5 and a 1 sec exposure but you can still see the aforementioned dynamic range issues in the illuminated clouds and the noise in the mist on the ground…
